This just in. A follow up?
The latest cover for The Week magazine. This will be out Friday. I finished it around 3:30 AM today (Wed.) Oil on panel. The underpainting was in acrylic. I haven't had to tweak a finished piece in a while for them. Today will probably be the day since I just don't feel like sleeping yet... It's 4am. I'll get a frantic call around 9am and have to change everything in photo shop and it won't look anything like this.
Cool things from my article that came out in the Erie Times last Sunday? Or Monday. Some friends looked me up and e mailed me. My friend, Mike, whom I pretty much grew up with from age 5 on called me. I haven't talked to him in years. He sounded like the same guy I was best friends with all through growing up, except now we both have adult type lives. He never left Erie and I fled to New York City. I specify "city" because having just drove through New York State, the few stops I made have no relation to the type of life I lead here. As Erie has no resemblance either. Mike is pretty intense, and I realized as I spoke on the phone with him, he was the 1st person in a bunch that I've been friends with that have this great intensity and intelligence that blows me away.
I'm doing some drawings from memory based on my last trip to Erie and a bunch of other drawings based on my trip to a fetish party and a hip hop party last week.

Post 53
So I took a vacation of a sort. I went and visited family about a week ago. As I was in the car rental place in Manhattan, the pleasant lady behind the counter asks me if I want to upgrade for a "small" fee to a convertible... "We don't get many convertibles here!" she exclaimed. Well this must be my lucky day then!as I thought about the route I had decided to take through the upstate finger lake region. I checked out the convertible. It was a VW bug! A girl car in light yellow but it was still a convertible. So rag top trumps yellow punch bug in my book and I took it. Of course the guys in the garage had no idea how to get the hood down. Some how over the course of an almost 500 mile trip to Erie, PA, I DIDN"T get a speeding ticket! It defies logic and all things natural, because I drove as if I wanted one! Of course I really didn't want one and I apologize to the state of New York for abusing their speed limit laws, but if the trooper that would have had the "joy" of pulling me over had a few minutes and miles behind the wheel of this little speed bug from Hermes, he'd have understood and let me go with a warning. I never had the pleasure of driving a nice little sports car. WHEW! I had a blast!
In Erie, my mom had told enough people that I'd be coming to Eduardo's (their bar) that some reporter from the Erie Times decided to call me up for an interview about people who grew up in Erie and still come back. So now I had to do caricatures at the bar for the volunteer Fire Dept. They even sent a photographer to shoot me as I drew. Well not to be out done, a news station sent a camera guy out to cover it too! I was still drawing at the bar when footage of me was on the eleven o'clock news! I think that was about the same time the girl with the big fake breasts was also flashing me a "thank you" flash... I didn't see me on the TV.

August time
From Go Figure last Monday July 30.
From yesterday's Dr. Sketchy's.
And some cool things. I saw Sicko on Wed. Nothing I didn't already know. It was pretty one sided in showing the story. Well done though. It made me sick of course because it just reminded me of stuff I already knew. I wouldn't mind giving another system a try though. Saw the Simpsons Movie on Sat. It was the Simpsons. That's my review.
Picked up John Cuneo's "nEuROTIC" book at Forbidden Planet comics while waiting to see the Simpsons. John's art is fantastic and as the quote from Edward Sorel on the back states... "Until I saw John Cuneo's erotic drawings, I had no idea how artistically rewarding it could be to have your mind in the gutter." Fantagraphics published it. Everyone I show(expose) it too raves at it. I'm raving too. Look! this is me raving. Rave, raverave, rave, r a v e.
I have The Week again this week. The day after deadline I'm renting a car and driving back to Erie, PA to visit the family. If I don't make any entries ever again, I've been in a horrible car crash probably caused by me swirving to avoid squishing a squirrel or something stupid.
